Co-founder, President and Chief Executive Officer
Butch Marino is co-founder, president and chief executive officer at ChoiceOne Urgent Care, LLC. In this role, Mr. Marino provides strong intellectual knowledge, experience and leadership in developing and implementing joint ventures, acquisitions and new center development.
Mr. Marino has more than 25 years’ experience in health care, including a strong record in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, strategic planning and business development. Prior to creating ChoiceOne, Marino was president of Innovative Health Strategies, which provided strategic advisory services to hospital, health systems and other healthcare provider and service companies.
Previously, Mr. Marino served as chief development officer and co-founder of Physicians Dialysis, Inc. From the company’s inception in 2000, Marino led Physicians Dialysis through several accretive acquisitions and joint ventures, creating a nationwide network of 24 dialysis clinics. His efforts helped position Physicians Dialysis as the nation’s sixth largest dialysis provider when it was acquired in September 2004.
Prior to Physicians Dialysis, Mr. Marino served in a number of capacities, including vice president mergers and acquisitions at Gambro Healthcare, Inc. At Gambro, Mr. Marino was responsible for meeting revenue and earnings growth objectives through mergers and acquisitions of dialysis clinics, including formation of joint ventures with physicians and health systems. Prior to joining Gambro, Mr. Marino was director of business development with Vivra Renal Care, where his responsibilities included acquisitions, joint ventures, physician recruitment, medical director agreements and acute inpatient services agreements.
Mr. Marino earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Delaware. He also completed the Executive Education Program, Mergers, Acquisitions and Corporate Restructuring Transactions program at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business.
Scott Burger, D.O.
Co-founder and Chief Medical Officer
Scott Burger, D.O., is co-founder and chief medical officer at ChoiceOne Urgent Care, LLC. In this role, Dr. Burger oversees clinical operations and the delivery of health care across the entire ChoiceOne network. He also sees patients at ChoiceOne’s Towson and Dundalk locations.
Prior to joining ChoiceOne, Dr. Burger founded Doctors Express, which grew to be one of the largest urgent care companies in the nation. For nearly 10 years, he practiced clinically at Doctors Express in Towson, MD. He also served as chief medical officer for Doctors Express Franchising.
Dr. Burger is a graduate of Loyola College in Baltimore, MD. He attended medical school at The New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in Long Island, NY. Dr. Burger completed his residency training in emergency medicine at The Albert Einstein College of Medicine at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York.
Dr. Burger then spent three years as an attending physician in the Emergency Department of Harlem Hospital, which serves as a major trauma and burn center in Manhattan. While working at Harlem Hospital, he served as an associate clinical professor at the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons.
