Federal DOT Commercial Motor Vehicle Medical Exams

A Department of Transportation (DOT) physical exam is required of commercial vehicle drivers to show they are in good health to work safely. The exam evaluates blood pressure and pulse rate, hearing, urinalysis, vision and other health indicators. In order to maintain a commercial driver's license (CDL), drivers must undergo a DOT physical every two years.

DOT physicals must be completed by a DOT-certified provider. Anyone needing to schedule a DOT physical should call to confirm the provider will be DOT certified.

Note: It's very important to view the Federal DOT Exam Requirements Checklist before getting your DOT exam.
